Our Story
A Dream That's Been Cooking For Years
Hello, and welcome to Highly Motivated Canyon Cuisine!
My journey in the fly fishing world began in 1994. I began guiding in 2004. Quit my government job, sold my house, and headed to Montana.
In the last 30-years, fly fishing has taken me from Oklahoma and Arkansas, fishing for hardly average trout on the Lower Mountain Fork. Then to Wisconsin to fish the Kinni and the Rush. Michigan in search of the famous hexagenia mayfly. Alaska to “check that off the list”. The Florida Keys in search of the Grand Slam. (Yes, I did get weak in the knees the first time I hooked a tarpon)! And finally, my beloved Montana.
Inevitably, I have left, and come back to Montana three times now. I no longer guide, or sleep in my truck at the Craig boat ramp. Craig is now my permanent home, where all the fishy people I’ve met over the years pop up consistently, like an annual family reunion.
Along the way, I supported my “lifestyle” by cooking for fly fishing lodges, bartending, and tax accounting in the winter. Weird huh. Now, I do all of the things everyone hates doing; taxes, and making sandwiches at 3 a.m. I’m Highly Motivated.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. Let’s do lunch!
